Welcome to the Sidhe...Long before humans ruled the land of Earth, there were creatures. These creatures fell into two categories; the Beasts and the Beings. The Beasts were the animals that you know today, the ones who do not speak a common language, whose powers are all mundane. The Beings looked the same as the Beasts, but as soon as you saw them for a second you would know that they were different. They all spoke a common language, a language beyond the capacity of human understanding. Some of them had the genetics for mystical powers. A few of these received the distinct praise of "Royals": these are the creatures of myth and imagination, the ones humans gave the names of "dragon", "unicorn", "chimera", and any other supposedly "mythical" creature that they came into contact with.
Things were fine for the longest time until humans evolved from Neanderthals. While the cavemen had been perfectly fine living with advanced creatures such as stags and eagles, the humans who had their own language were uncomfortable with it. They viewed the Beings as "unnatural" and something that had to be eradicated immediately. The first ones to be targeted were the Royals, for their distinct appearance set them apart from the Beasts. They were the ones who discovered The Sidhe, a place where Beings could go that had all of the accouterments of Earth and none of the issues. While the more animal-like Beings stayed in secret for a while, hiding their speech and powers to fit in with the Beasts, they were ready to go to The Sidhe. They would not have to be in disguise anymore.
Things were fine for thousands of years: while humans became more advanced and the Beings evolved along with the Beasts they had left behind, everything was bountiful. It was a downright Biblical scene, with the lion and the lamb laying down together. Then things began to change. A few humans, curious travelers who had followed a messenger kestrel back to the Sidhe, came across the place and set everything off. One of the travelers was murdered by a white lion named Argo, setting off a bloodlust that turned predators like lions and wolves wanting the taste of flesh. One of the travelers was rescued by a coyote female who brought him to her lair. The coyote pups bit the human male's fingers and drank the blood. Unlike Argo, the blood affected them and tainted their magic. They became unable to speak and were given the name "Impure". The Impure spread their disease to others through killing men and breeding with women. The third traveler went back to Earth and told other humans of the Sidhe and how to get to it. They came and multiplied there.
Bloodlust, Impurity, and humans destroyed the tranquility of the Sidhe. Now everyone must fight for survival.
