There were ones like our creatures today but with special abilities, and there were the creatures of myth and legend called Royals. When chased into a sanctuary called the Sidhe by scared humans, they flourished in peace for thousands of years. When a few travelers came to the Sidhe by accident, they unleashed the terrors of bloodlust, impurity, and humankind on a once-paradise. Now it's something to be grateful for if you live another day. This is Eden after the fall.
